Tedious Limbs at Deitch Projects

May 7–14, 2005

26 Wooster Street

Tedious Limbs was a collection of the most cutting-edge, underground video art being produced. Organized by Devin Flynn, Kendra Gaeta, and Takeshi Murata, this exhibition included eye-popping visual disruptions that delve deep into a psychedelic symbiosis of the auditory and the visual. Artists included Takeshi Murata, Ara Peterson, Ben Jones, Jessica Ciocci, Devin Flynn, Mat Brinkman, Melissa Brown, Michael Williams, Andy Hershey, Billy Grant, and Noah Lyon.

This weeklong show began with a night of live performance that promised to “agitate your eyeballs, rods, cones, eardrums, and all moveable parts into a united overthrow of reason.” Various groupings of the artists, their associated bands, and special guests performed music. Many of them had already crossed paths repeatedly in the musically charged art scene of Providence, Rhode Island.

Debuted April 1, 2005 at the Anthology Film Archives, the Tedious Limbs video program was expanded and revised to include a new array of videos and performances.
